About Us

The Division of Human Development & Services Department (DHDS) has a rich history of providing a comprehensive array of education and social services to help people achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency.

Department Structure

Administration
Directs all DHDS activities and programs, establishes and maintains working relationships with funding and other agencies, public and private. The Human Services Director is also the facilitator to the Human Services Commission.

Education
Responsible for overall implementation and monitoring of the Head Start performance standards for children and families served through a directly operated program.

Community and Senior Services
The Office of Social Services, the designated Community Action Program for East Baton Rouge Parish, develops, implements, and operates human service programs to meet the emergency, short-term, and long-term needs of eligible low-income residents, to include the elderly and individuals with disabilities.

Management Services
Management Services coordinates the planning, fiscal, personnel, contracts, information technology and other support services for all DHDS programs.
